mommahood.

sometimes roman wakes me up really early.  like, 6:30 early.
[which is sort of funny that i think 6:30 is early, i used to leave the house by 6:30]
and then magic happens.
and just like that, i'm ready to dominate the day.

another painting partay.

so i've basically decided that when you paint with just one toddler,
it's too much work to even make it worth it.
i know i know.  pathetic.  but seriously.
when you compare the amount of time actually painting to the time it takes to get everything out and clean it all up?
it's like gasp. yikes. i'd rather read 46 truck books.
so, i've basically decided that we'll host painting parties.
it's a fantab time.

1 roll of paper.
a few washable paints squirted out in piles onto paper plates.
1 kiddie pool filled with water.
lots of {halfnaked} toddlers.
{and the most important one} lots of momma friends.

{little meg with roman's random roller he stole from mr leif}
 {hi sam. you a warrior, sam?}
 {beautiful momma. handsome wee-lad.}
{little sam. little della girl}
 {bram the man, asher too.  hi madi!}
{all done. wash up. pool partay}

but fo reals.
mommas:
go round up some kids.
get out the paints.
grab some mommas, and some water.
things will get a lil cray cray, but it will be so good.
and who doesn't like artwork up on their wall?
hello. it screams "happy home".

to denver we go.

roman's obsessed with airplanes.
so obvi. the airport is basically his toys r us.
all i had to do, last friday, while waiting to board, was perch him in front of the window.
dude coulda sat there all day.
no lie.
 but soon enough, it was time to board.
and talk about awesomesauce.  romes zonked out as soon as we took off.
we tried to stay cool.
the big D aint used to no 3 digit temps in the summer.
i even overheard the lifeguards gasping when they found out it was 101 degrees.
but seriously.  i don't know if it was our elevation or what, but it was SOOOOO hot.
like, step outside and fall over in a heap of sweat, hot.
so we we were in the water 80% of our trip.
 and when we weren't in the water,
we were running around outside, with hardly any clothes on.

and when we weren't running around half naked,
we were soakin up the sunsets.
and when we weren't all gaa-gaa over the sunsets,
we were havin lunch with aunt lesley.

and when we weren't eating lunch with lesley,
we were eating aaron's homemade ice cream.
because, well, we like to eat dessert.
and it was hot, so we needed to eat ice cream.
need, not want, people.
 but mostly, we ran around in our swimsuits and diapers.
and mostly we played in the water.
and mostly, we love our denver aunty liza, uncle aaron, cuz charlotte, and aunty lesley.
and mostly we can dream of being in the same city someday.
and mostly, it was just plain hot.
and so very soon, we were off to the airport to fly home.
denver's airport makes you ride a little train.
someone loves trains, and someone loves planes. so someone was stoked.
and someone didn't nap this time.
but someone did fantabulous, the whole ride home!
{and someone else sang the dang itsy bitsy spider song, in flight, wayyyy too many times}
{that would be me.  you do what you gotta do when you're that high up in the sky, trapped in a seat}

when you walk away from a sweet find.

yes. i know.
this belongs in my house.
i thought the same thing as walked out on the deck at an estate sale,
and my heart practically backflipped right out of me, beating away, professing its love for this bench.
but alas. it was too expensive.
i texted its photo to a few of my peeps.
asking for the courage to buy or the courage to walk away.
i walked away.
hoping {praying?!} it would be there on day two, the half off day.
and, it wasn't.
someone else had whisked it away.
and it's now in their home.

so why in the world did i even post about this?
well why not?
look at it.
it's gorge.
and even if it was hypothetically mine for about five minutes as i sat on it, dreaming up the possibilities.
those five minutes awesome.

i bid you farewell beautiful bench.

happy heart momma bear stuff.

happy heart:
when he makes him laugh.
uncontrollably.
happy heart:
romes, telling the pig "i yuv you"
happy heart:
eating tcby, pink lemonade and gummy bears, in my yellow dress
happy heart:
his blue eyes.
happy heart:
walking into the kitchen, catching him play grocery store.
happy heart:
sweet fitty cent garage sale finds.
roman's first motorcycle. his first train.
[he's in love]
happy heart:
those lips.
those eyes.
[those cheeks]
happy heart:
finding his friends, stuffed in a stroller, being pulled around the house.
happy heart:
pajama top.
swim trunk bottom.
paci.
tiger.
kitchen floor.
happy heart:
his excitement for the trash truck.

happy heart:
us.
happy heart:
him.
i never knew what this momma thing was gonna do to my heart.
but wow. it expands by the moment these days.

i baked something with loads of sugar.

i have this thing with cooking.
i don't particularly enjoy it.
especially if i have to deal with raw meat and then an hour later try and eat it.
it's all i can do to not picture it, still raw, as i'm chewing.
i know, it's weird.

however, i could make 5 desserts a day.
and never get sick of it.
i completely adore baking.

so, when we eat with friends, it's ushze what i sign up to bring.
this momma could browse desserts, pin desserts, drool over desserts every day.
whip cream. chocolate. cream cheese. lemon. creamy, tart, crunchy, sweet and tangy.
i love it all.

ok, seriously.
enough of me and my awkward fetish for desserts.

here's what i made for a bbq with friends a couple weeks ago.
normally, this isn't a dessert i go goo-goo-gaa-gaa over.
but for two reasons, my tastebuds were hoppin around like 14 year olds at a katy perry concert.
one: the crust has sugar AND pretzels in it.  totally has a salty/sweet thang goin on.
and two: personal dessert dishes.  who doesn't want their own cute little dish? hello. i do.

the: crust
the: filling
the: filling on top of crust
the: top
the: end
seriously, these were like too much goodness.....no one could even finish their little dish
oh yeah, and i had one for breakfast the next day.
you judgin? don't be judgin.

now, go make one fo yo kids.
make one fo yo man.
make one fo yo neighba.
